However, we can create a custom index for a dataframe using the index attribute. To create a custom index in a pandas dataframe, we will assign a list of index labels to the index attribute of the dataframe. WebDefinition and Usage. The index property returns the index information of the DataFrame. The index information contains the labels of the rows. If the rows has NOT named indexes, the index property returns a RangeIndex object with the start, stop, and step values.
